Head Nurse
Claire qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2004, and joined us in 2005. She enjoys all aspects of the job but especially the challenge of theatre nursing. She is our head nurse and has an Assessor's qualification, which enables her to train nurses within the practice. Away from work, she enjoys socialising, walking and going to the theatre.
Judith Drury RVN

Qualified Veterinary Nurse
Judith worked in the hosiery industry for 18 years, before joining us in 1988. She qualified as a veterinary nurse in 1997. She enjoys helping Carole investigating skin cases, and keeping the laboratory machine in working order! Away from work, she is married with 2 children, and enjoys holidays, reading and doing crosswords.
Helen Howard RVN

Qualified Veterinary Nurse
Helen has been a qualified nurse since 2003, and has been with us since 2004. She is responsible for the practice dispensary, and is working towards a further qualification in this area. Away from work, she is engaged to Shaun, and their main interest is their dogs. Helen breeds and shows Basset Fauves and Shih Tzus, and won best Shih Tzu in show at Crufts in 2002, 2003 and 2006 (they didn't go in 2004/5!!)
Maxine Wells RVN

Qualified Veterinary Nurse
After having a varied start to her career including working for the RSPCA, Maxine joined us as our first ever kennel maid - but we quickly spotted her potential and she moved into veterinary nursing, qualifying in 2004. Her main interests are in behaviour (especially with rescued animals) and running the practice puppy parties. Away from work, she enjoys spending time with her 4 mad dogs and 2 cats, enjoys musical theatre and pilates.
Lindsay Cotterill RVN

Qualified Veterinary Nurse
Lindsay worked in the car trade for 5 years before joining us in 2001. She started here as an office assistant, then became a receptionist, before moving into what she really wanted to do, which was nursing! Her main interests are surgical nursing, and running the practice weight watchers scheme (for pets, not staff!). Her hobbies include walking her dog Tiger, camping and going to the pub!
Maya Yates RVN

Qualified Veterinary Nurse
Maya was born in Hamburg, Germany, and moved to the UK aged 4. She did a degree in Business and Marketing at Aston University in Birmingham, then worked in Theatre and Performing Arts before training as a veterinary nurse in 2004. She has been with us since January 2007. She is interested in canine behaviour, and away from work, still has a keen interest in theatre. She has 2 dogs, a boxer called Diego and an American bull dog called Lex.
Vicki Start RVN

Qualified Veterinary Nurse
Vicki grew up in Eastwood, and qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2004, before joining us in January 2007. Her practice interests include cardiology, and she has received extra training in this area. In her leisure time, she enjoys socialising, netball and rock climbing. She has a 16-year-old Yorkshire terrier called Sammy.
Ruth Fletcher RVN

Qualified Veterinary Nurse
Ruth joined the practice in August 2008, and qualified at the same time, having worked previously at a practice in Ilkeston. Her special interests are rabbits and guinea pigs, and she has a wealth of experience in the field of caring for these species. Outside of work, she enjoys getting stuck into a good book (much to her partner Karl’s frustration!) especially sci fi and fantasy, and going to the theatre. She has a herd of 6 guinea pigs!
Lorna Thomas RVN

Qualified Veterinary Nurse
Lorna joined us in September 2009 as a qualified veterinary nurse. She enjoys all aspects of her work, but especially nursing the medical patients back to health! When Lorna is not nursing, she teaches pole dancing – she has her own pole fitness school in Chesterfield and is trying to persuade the rest of the staff here to go to her classes!! She also goes horse riding and likes reading.
Amanda Stalker RVN

Qualified Veterinary Nurse
Amanda has worked with us since 2004, initially as a kennel maid, now qualified as RVN. Prior to this, she worked with horses. She is married to Simon, they have two sons. She is surrounded by an array of animals including three pet chickens, two cats,1 Chinese crested dog,1 pappilon x, one very short German Shepherd (X Corgi), one big German Shepherd, and quite a few horses and ponies! In her spare time, she enjoys horse riding and helping her husband and mother-in-law who own the local riding school, but most of all she enjoys spending time with her family.
Alex Yeu RVN

Qualified Veterinary Nurse
Alex has been with us since November 2009, having qualified in October. She is in charge of the dental room at work, and loves scaling and polishing teeth. Alex’s hobbies include horse riding, dog walking, and going to the gym. She has just started pole dancing lessons, which she is thoroughly enjoying!!
Natasha Smith

Trainee Veterinary Nurse
Tash joined us in 2006, and is one of 2 kennels and cattery assistants, having been to Broomfield Hall College for 2 years doing a national diploma in animal management She has 9 dogs which keep her very busy! She enjoys going out with friends and shopping!
Jade Alvey

Kennels and Cattery Assistant
Jade joined the practice in June 2008. Prior to this, she was at Broomfield Hall College, and obtained a National Diploma in Animal Management. She looks after the in-patients, and finds great satisfaction in keeping them comfortable and relaxed in their time here. Her main interest out of work is motorbikes, and she has just taken up horse-riding.
Karen Jenkins

Kennels and Cattery Assistant
Karen has been with us since April 2009. She has had a variety of jobs previously, including midwifery and medical sales, with her last job being at a boarding kennels. She enjoys studying, and recently completed a degree in computing with the Open University. She enjoys all aspects of her job. Away from work, she likes spending time with her 2 children, walking her dog, cake decorating and is a qualified swimming timekeeper.
