Alabama Rot

There is a lot in the news about Alabama Rot, which is understandably causing some anxiety to dog owners. Please remember that it's rare, we've never seen a case although some have been reported in dogs exercised in Clumber Park. The exact cause of this disease hasn't been identified, but it seems to be associated with muddy walks. It causes skin lesions then the patient develops kidney failure.

Washing the mud of your dog's paws after a walk seems a sensible precaution, but otherwise there isn't much you can do to protect your dog, as the cause of Alabama Rot isn't known. But please try not to worry, most cases of skin problems in dogs are NOT Alabama Rot.
