Let's talk about Pet Insurance. Many pets are insured, but we know that many owners don't always know the details about their policies. Over the coming weeks, we will try to give you some information about insurance, with the help of our insurance lady Sharon Pine, who helps our owners submit claims.
The first thing we'd like to say is:
Check how long your policy covers your pet. Is it a life long policy or is it 12 months?
With a 12 month policy, if your pet gets a problem, they can only get insurance cover for that condition for 12 months. Please note that it doesn't matter if you claim for it at the time! It all depends on how long it's been going on.
Case example: we recently saw a dog who had a cough in August 2018 - it responded to treatment with tablets, and the owner didn't claim as the cost of treatment was less than the excess on the policy. The cough has come back this August, but the dog isn't covered by his insurance as it's a 12 month policy.
So, read the policy details, so you know what cover you are getting!
