Prescriptions

We have a well-stocked dispensary, containing a huge variety of medicines for your convenience. When your pet has been prescribed medicines, please ensure that you follow the instructions very carefully on the label, especially any safety advice such as washing your hands after use. If you have any questions about regarding the medication, please contact the surgery, we will be very pleased to answer any queries.

It is important that pets on long term treatments regularly have their medication reviewed -  don't forget the the average lifespan of our pets is a lot shorter than a human, and changes in health can occur quickly. Legally we cannot dispense Prescription Only Medicines (POM-V) treatments unless we have seen your pet in the past 6 months.

For routine flea and worm treatments to be prescribed, your pet must have been seen by us at least annually (e.g. when vaccinated).

Please phone the practice to request a repeat prescription, preferably giving at least 24 hours notice. We understand that it's easy to get caught out, so we can often process prescriptions on the same day in a dire emergency!! If you require any items that we don't normally stock, we have a delivery every week day morning, so can usually get items delivered the day after they are ordered.

Written prescriptions are available, again please give us at least 24 hours for them to be processed. These will incur a fee of £8.40 for the first item and £4.60 for subsequent items.

If you return any medications to us, we cannot resell them and they have to be destroyed. Any medication obtained elsewhere should be returned to where it was purchased, not to us.
